At the origin of La Cuvée Mythique in 1990, there are passionate winemakers, in love with their mythical terroir, who decide together to create a great cuvée.
Thanks to a rigorous selection of plots and a unique blind tasting process, La Cuvée Mythique embodies the authentic and modern expression of Mediterranean grape varieties.

Red

Appellation Pays d'Oc
Grape varietal Syrah, Marselan, Grenache, Marselan, Carignan, Mourvèdre
Tasting notes A deep red colour with purple hues. A delight of luxurious dark blueberries, liquorice, crushed pepper and the smell of garrigue, on the nose. A full and round mouth with a touch of vanilla and toasty flavours on the palate. The mouth is jammy and fruity. The attack remains fresh, and provides final notes of mocha.
Pairing recommendation Ideal with duck (magret), beef carpaccio, local dishes of course (cassoulet, etc..), spicy or Mediterranean based dishes : tajine, moussaka, tika etc..
Service temperature 16-18°C
Winemaking process Traditional winemaking on a selection of ripe and mature grapes. The extraction method is slow and smooth, and the maceration lasts from 20 to 30 days.

Tasting notes A pink peach like colour. A nose of vanilla and pomegranate with peach vine. A fruit-forward, generous and balanced mouth with a fresh and smooth final.
Pairing recommendation Perfect with a swordfish tartar (or any other fish tartar, for that matter), a crumble of vegetables or a panacotta with red fruits.

Winemaking process Specific plot selection: 7 to 15 year-old vines with a yield management of 60 to 70hl/ha – Light skin-contact maceration, direct pressing, regular stirring to keep the lees in suspension. 10 to 15% of the blend is oaked macerated in order to bring balance and freshness

White

Appellation Pays d'Oc
Grape varietal Grenache, Marsanne, Viognier, Bourboulenc
Tasting notes Beautiful yellow color, clear and brilliant. The nose evokes notes of ripe white flesh fruits and nuances of crème brulée and roasted hazelnuts. The greedy mouth reveals notes of Williams pears and apricot juice.
Pairing recommendation Perfect as an accompaniment to risotto with tomato confit, a fish tagine, or on a fillet of poultry.

Winemaking process Plot selection, harvest at dawn to preserve the freshness of the grapes. Light skin-contact maceration. Pressing. Temperature controlled fermentation. Regular stirring to keep the lees in suspension. A part of the Cuvée will be aged in wood for 3 months to develop balance and body

Terroir

In 1990, a group of winemakers from the south of France came together to embrace a “mythical” challenge: to create an exceptional wine capable of authentically expressing the uniqueness of their Languedoc terroir and contribute to the success of the newly established IGP Pays d’Oc recognition.

The Winemakers’ Competition

Even today, the quality of this exceptional wine is ensured through a rigorous selection process. The selection process starts in the vineyard. All the winemakers of the cooperative can participate in the creation of this exceptional wine, provided they meet the very strict criteria outlined in the specifications. Subsequently, a blind tasting conducted by oenologists and also by wine enthusiasts allows for the selection of the most promising cuvées.

Finally, the chosen cuvées are carefully blended to create “La Cuvée Mythique,” a wine that is both modern and Mediterranean in character.

It is this continuous pursuit of quality that makes Mythique not only an emblematic brand of the cooperative but also a source of pride for the participating winemakers.

The competition takes place in four stages. The first stage occurs during the pre-harvest period, where the aim is to define a taste profile that will be outlined in strict specifications. The second stage takes place in September/October, and it involves pre-selecting winemakers based on the potential of their vineyards, winemaking techniques, and motivations. The third stage takes place in December/January. This is when a jury of experts conducts blind tastings to select the best cuvées from all over the Languedoc Roussillon region. The final stage occurs in February/March, which involves the ultimate tasting and the creation of the final blend.
